He graduated in 1976 from the University of Oxford. He also designed computer software for two years at Plessey Telecommunications Ltd. In addition to this, he worked as a software engineering consultant at CERN. One of his major contributions to the computer science field was that he invented the World Wide Web in order to share information from scientists to universities worldwide.
